Longer cable runs, detached garages, older wiring or a consumer unit that needs changing do not rule out an installation — they just mean more planning, and sometimes an on-site visit.

Cost depends on the charger you choose and what the installation involves — for example the distance from your consumer unit to the charger, whether the cable needs to run through walls or underground, and whether your consumer unit or earthing arrangement needs work. A straightforward home installation is usually completed within a single visit. Longer cable routes, groundworks or electrical upgrades can add time, and we will explain this once we have looked at your property.
Most UK homes with a single-phase supply can have a 7kW charger, which is the typical maximum for domestic single-phase charging. Whether it is suitable depends on your electrical supply and existing load, which we check during the survey. Load management may be used where needed.
Not always. Many existing consumer units can accommodate an EV charger circuit, but older boards or boards without spare capacity may need changes. Photographs of your consumer unit help us assess this before quoting.
Chargers are typically mounted on an external house wall, garage wall or a dedicated post near where you park. The ideal position balances cable reach to your car's charging port, a sensible cable route from your consumer unit and how the charger will look.
A tethered charger has the cable permanently attached, so you just plug into the car. An untethered charger has a socket, and you use your own cable. Tethered is more convenient day to day; untethered can look tidier and gives more flexibility for future vehicles.
